Blog post 16: A social media manager

This assignment is different from the Blog post 2 assignment, but it is related.

In that assignment, many of you chose a job ad that asked for social media skills. However, when you wrote about your ability to meet that requirement, you did not demonstrate knowledge or understanding of what an employer really wants.

So now you’re going to examine what a “social media manager” is expected to do and to know.

Select two (2) jobs from this list and an additional two (2) jobs from this list. (Total: four job ads.) Choose jobs that sound interesting or desirable to YOU. It’s not that you would definitely apply for this exact job, but please do try to find jobs that appeal to you in some way (and not only because of their location).

I do not want to see students listing the same jobs as other students.

Requirements for your blog post

For EACH job ad, do this:

  1. Type the name of the position, and then make that text a link to the original ad. For example: Social Media Manager
  2. List three (3) separate qualifications or requirements from the ad that pertain DIRECTLY to the use of SOCIAL MEDIA. Use a numbered list for the three, and USE QUOTATION MARKS correctly for each one of these. (For example: 1. “The Social Media Manager will work with Community Managers to ensure all scheduled social media content is posted to the appropriate channels when required.”)
  3. Assess your own ability to do the job described in the ad. In particular, which skills or requirements do you LACK at this time?

There is no word limit.

Please deal with each job separately in your post — so you will have four separate numbered lists, one list under each link to an ad. After the list, write a paragraph about your qualifications for just that ad.
